When purchasing a new bow, a cam that was not adjustable did not seem to be that big of an issue. The modular cam system is a significant departure from previous cams, particularly the Z3 cam which was not adjustable and required you to order a bow that precisely fitted your specific draw length. The big difference with this cam is that it is adjustable with replaceable modules. The draw force curve is very smooth with a very gradual transition into the let-off. This means that draw length adjustments can be made with only a couple of tools. There are many companies that make this claim but this is one of the few companies where you actually can. The XTR cam and a half has a small module that is held in position by two screws that have been strategically placed on the cam so that you can remove the module while the bow is at rest which makes it extremely convenient to be able to adjust the cam length without having to press the bow. Because it's a Hoyt cam and a half system, there are little or no synchronisation concerns. The XTR cam is from Hoyt's venerable cam and a half family, a modular system that allows the draw length to be adjusted in half inch increments to really fine tune your bow without the aid of a bow press. That Turbo will blow any other bow out of the water! The draw cycle is unbelievable! Let's put it this way, I've never been able to draw a bow much over 70 lbs. The real money is in the Carbon Spyder Turbo. Seriously, I fail to see a noticeable difference between the two bows when they shoot. I know what you guys are thinking right now, "How does it shoot man!!! Tell me how it shoots!!!" One word.awesome! Honestly, the Carbon Spyder 30 didn't feel that much different than the Carbon Element. Now that I've actually gotten to pull one out of the box and hold it in my hand, it seems a little less goofy and a little more awesome! I'll tell you up front that when I first saw a picture of the Carbon Spyder last week, I was not impressed by the way it looked. Yesterday, I had a chance to test out Hoyt's new 2014 models, the Carbon Spyder 30, the Carbon Spyder Turbo, and the Faktor. Hoyt, Mathews, PSE, Bowtech, Prime, Elite.all of them! That being the case, I have the opportunity to shoot almost every model any of the big name manufacturers come out with. I also work at an archery pro shop here in North Texas. I love Hoyt bows, and I love my Carbon Element. I currently shoot a 2012 Carbon Element set at 60 lbs. As you all probably know, I'm a Hoyt guy.
